City lacks waterpark to beat summer heat

We just went out of town for a few days. With the weather being so hot, we were looking for water activities to do with the kids - not just a beach (boring), so we took the girls to the wave pool in Kanata, and in the little town of Cobden, to the waterslides at Logo's Land. It got us to thinking, how come Sudbury has nothing like this? No waterslides, no parks with lots of water activities such as in Timmins (with the exception of the fountain downtown), no wave pools indoors or outdoors. Not even a hotel with an indoor waterslide, like the one in Sault Ste. Marie.
Go and take a look at the Simon Lake park water. As someone passing through, that is disgusting with the green slim-filled beach.
The beaches sometimes close due to E. coli or are packed elbow to elbow. A small place like Cobden has three waterslides, a water trampoline, paddle boats and a big place like Sudbury has nothing.
I'm sure the tourists who come here wonder why there are no water activities to do with their families when the weather is extremely hot.
A water park with a wave pool, slides and run-around fountains with spraying water guns and other such equipment would be a huge asset to Sudbury. It would be beneficial to both residents and tourists.
A one-site water park would be great for everyone. It is sad to see that water slide out in Chelmsford just sitting there uncompleted. The city wouldn't let it be completed, therefore the city should dismantle it or take it over, finish it and make a profit and create jobs with it. The person who originally started it should have had the city's support, as the residents and tourists would have made it a great success.
Even living here, I find Sudbury really doesn't have that much to offer in the summer outdoor activities area. This is truly disappointing for a city of this size. What else is here in Sudbury to attract people other than Science North and The Big Nickel?
I can't think of much else to do with my girls here that they would have a blast doing.
Maybe the city should consider waterpark, wave pool, etc., in the new complex they talk about building ... some day.
