(.....could it be possible that vital truths are silenced, by those in power, before it reaches the masses?)
That depends on the what you describe as "vital"
There is no question that at various times in history information was withheld from those whom it directly affected most.
As to whether or not this is ethical, each case must be considered individually.
Ask the local media, why sudburytv.ca has been blacklisted. The Northern Life, Sudbury Star, MCTV, Channel 10 News.
Why ask them??? Unless you can put forth an example wherein one of these news outlets specifically targeted SudTv, then asking them would be to no avail.
Ask Greater City of Sudbury, why they will not take any questions from sudburytv.ca, claiming that we are not an established news media outlet.
Well, think about. SudTv is NOT an established news media outlet. SudTv is a website. From what I have seen in my short time here, SudTv is a mish-mash of various media all set up in an online-accessible form.
But as a suggestion, if you want the site to be taken more seriously, start with the home page. No offense intended, but that home page looks like something a 12-year old kid would cobble together. The annoying acoustic guitar which drones incessantly whilst one is perusing the homepage does little to lend credibility to the site.
Suggestions: Lose the music. Lose the psychodelic graphics. Make the sidebar links more evident as links, rather than multi-coloured, mix and match fonts. Tighten up the look, and make it at least APPEAR to be professional.
If you want psychedelia and childrens' painting, save them for the entertainment pages.
Oh yes, and try to lighten up on all the "news" which is endlessly circulated by some of the loony-left conspiracy theorists. Just as an addendum to that comment, I want to point out that I have been called a left-wing nut on several political forums sites. But some of the stuff you're putting forth is WAY out there.
If you want to be taken seriously as a news source, try to at least have the appearance of being a provider of news.
Do you think the media and the government are in bed together?
On our local level, both the media and the government are so incompetent that I hardly see that it matters.
But for a short answer; no.
Why does the Northern Life say that they consider sudburytv.ca the competition? Why did Northern Life offer David Chevrier 500 hundred dollars to purchase the sudburytv.ca name? Is it all about keeping control of their monopoly over what we think? Is it greed?
First, I have not heard Northern Life state that SudTv was competition.
Second, perhaps they offered Mr. Chevrier $500.00 simply because they liked the domain name and wanted to purchase the rights to it.
I would hardly call an offer of $500.00 a credible "muzzling" offer. In fact, if I were Mr. Chevrier, I would have been insulted that the offer was so small. Obviously they don't think much of SudTv to offer such a pittance.
Third, since when does the Northern Life have a monopoly over what we think??? That insipid little rag is little more than a second-rate local paper which seldom has anything of interest. The writing quality is poor, the reporting equally poor, and the scope of the stories remarkably narrow. The Northern Life can only be taken seriously as a newspaper in a small population center. I am surprised it has survived this long in Sudbury, and that it has not packed up and moved to Verner.
Count on it!!! If nothing else, this site is entertaining.
I've already had many a chuckle here.
